This article talks about student protesting rides on camels for their campus, and my argument is that its completely absurd. If the people in charge of the camels are completely prepared to take on this kind of thing; why not?
In the article they talk about having a reindeer before for the occasion of Christmas, therefore what is the difference between having a camel instead of a reindeer? The manager of getting everything ready talks ab0ut how the students believed it was animal abuse and not environmentally safe.
I think that getting people closer to animals can build a better connection with the earth and give them some insight of how much we should take care of our planet. It would be a wonderful experience to give to the students at the college because their already so stressed with work that it would serve as a stress reliever. If anything I bet the camel is better treated at the zoo then where it once lived.
Its also a once in a lifetime thing, because when else have you ever heard of free camel rides on campuses? In addition, its not going to be an everyday thing, which means that you can’t really prove its environmentally unsafe. Besides, if it were animal abuse the police would already be on top of the owners of the camels and we must also remember what the actual actions are of animal abuse. The protest aren’t valid; which means all the students were looking for was pure attention from the media.
Pop-culture has transformed the idea of what right and what’s wrong. This is why so many protests have arisen, and they believe this because of all the show s and movies watched. Just because a commercial has a camel in it doesn’t mean its animal abuse.
